Grant Information
The Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation provides equipment and Quickball grants to youth organizations, schools, Boys & Girls Clubs, local governments, and community non-profit groups that meet our eligibility requirements, as well as promote safe, healthy out of school activities including youth baseball and softball. Information about our grants and downloadable applications are below.

Important: All grants are contingent upon our federal funding. If at anytime the Foundation is unable to hold a competitive grant review due to our limited funding, all applicants will be notified.
Deadlines
Equipment Applications:
All available competitve Equipment Grants for the 2007/2008 funding year have now been awarded but we will accept applications for the 2008/2009 review at any time prior to the application deadline.
The deadline for the next grant review will be January 15, 2009.
Quickball Applications:
Quickball Grants are awarded on a rolling application deadline. 2007/2008 applications will be accepted for review through August 31, 2008.
Please note that upon approval, grant award fulfillment can take up to 6-10 weeks.
Eligibility
Eligible Organizations Must:
- Be a community recreation department within local government, existing baseball or softball league, youth serving organization, or public school running an out-of-school program
- Have 501 (c) (3) IRS status (local governments and schools are not required to submit this document)
- Have a least two (2) years of on-going operation in youth programming
- Provide growth opportunities for youth in the areas of values education and life skills enhancement and/or sports
- Have capable leadership and the capacity (including additional community support) to carry out its intended mission
- At least 50% of the youth benefiting from this equipment must be eligible for free and/or reduced lunch. For more information on the National School Lunch Program, please click here. Application Information
A limited number of grants will be available for the 2008/2009 seasons.
Note: Matching Youth Field Refurbishment Application will not be available this year due to our new Strategic Communities initiatives.

2. Read all additional eligibility and conditions pertaining to that grant (can be found in the downloadable application) and make sure
your organization is a good fit for that type of grant.

2008 Grants Available
Quickball Grants
This grant makes Quickball resources available to grow baseball and softball at a grassroots level through the game of Quickball. Quickball is a national baseball enhancement program that allows children to learn the basics of baseball in a fun, fast-paced way. Eligible organizations include: community recreation departments within local governments, existing baseball and softball leagues, Boys & Girls Clubs, public schools running out-of school programs, and/or youth organizations with 501 (c) (3) status. 2009 Grants Available
Baseball/Softball Equipment Grants
This grant provides and ships baseball and softball equipment to organizations and schools who serve disadvantaged children, in order to increase opportunities for youth to learn the life skills needed for success on and off the field. Eligible organizations include: community recreation departments within local governments, existing baseball and softball leagues, Boys & Girls Clubs, public schools running out-of school programs, and/or youth organizations with 501 (c) (3) status. Free and Reduced Lunch Information
The Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation uses the National School Lunch Program demographics to help assess the need of applicant organizations. Based on the program's criteria involving income, financial aid eligibility, family size, and number of youth in school, these figures help us to determine eligibility.
To find information about your serving population's eligibility for free/reduced lunch, please check with your local State agency for a percentage of youth participating in this program.
