Communication
Just “Google” It
Today when you have a question, where do you go for an answer? Do you walk to the bookshelf and open an encyclopedia? Do you ask your mom, dad, or teacher? What if they don’t know? You have a question, Google will know the answer.
Just 10 years ago “Google” was just the dream of two young Stanford graduate students, Larry Page and Sergey Brin. Today, there are over 100 million searches each day on Google. In just 10 years, Google helped to completely change the way we communicate. Google is available all over the world on computers, and even in our hands on blackberries and iphones.
You can email, research, get directions, see your house on a map, and chat with other people all over the world. More people communicate through Google asking questions and finding answers. We don’t open books or ask someone else when we know Google has the answer.
Discussion Questions:
1. If communication is more than the words we speak, but also the way we say them,
our body language and attitude, how do we communicate through Google?
2. What kinds of things can you find on Google?
3. What are some things we cannot communicate on Google?
