Personal Responsibility

The Biggest Loser – Claiming Responsibility for Ourselves

Personal Responsibility means being in charge of the actions and the choices we make in our lives.  This means looking at all of our choices and actions, whether they turn our good or bad.  We cannot place blame on outside people or circumstances.  Taking charge of our actions, decisions, and the consequences of these choices gives us great power to transform ourselves.

The TV show, “The Biggest Loser” on NBC highlights personal responsibility.  The show carries the audience through lives of people who want to take personal responsibility to improve their lives both mentally and physically. The contestants must follow a disciplined routine of exercise and proper nutrition, while also dealing with the pressures of television and doing these things in front of a large audience.

Each contestant on the show deals with their own strengths and weaknesses. They are challenged to overcome their weaknesses and act to improve their health.  By eating healthy foods, exercising, and doing all things in moderation, they learn how to have a longer, healthier life.  Some of these choices may be as simple as going for a walk and spending time with family and friends.  Instead of doing what may be easy, placing blame on others or outside circumstances, “The Biggest Loser” challenges contestants to look at themselves and take control of their lives.
