#CRSFCamp: Last Hurrah

Aug 27, 2014

This is the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation’s last week of summer camp, and it’s the final week before the last of our kids go back to school.

But let’s not forget that this is a whole new group, and that, to these 187 girls and boys, this is their first week of #CRSFcamp! For some, it’s their first time spending a night away from home, first time on an airplane, first time meeting kids from other states.

Thanks for flying in our campers, Southwest Airlines! Kids came from as far away as Wisconsin and Washington, to as near as Virginia and Delaware, and everywhere in between. With a little help from our friends, we loaded them up with uniforms, backpacks, and gear thanks to Under Armour, Marucci, Louisville Slugger, and Rawlings. And if anybody forgot bedding or toiletries, we had them covered, thanks to Walmart.

And had a little orientation on the first night…

Camp got off to a great start….

Of course, we were joined by some uncommon coaches from the US Marshals Service, Montgomery County Police Department, Maryland National Guard, Maryland State Police, Harford County Sheriff's Office, Carroll County Sheriff's Office, Cecil County Sheriff's Office, and Fairfax County Police Department.

And while we enjoyed playing baseball, we did plenty of other fun activities.

And at nightly programming, we discussed the power of mind over matter and tore off our labels, using activities from HCHC: Resilience Edition:

Stay tuned for more updates!
