Do you screen your staff and volunteers annually?

Apr 30, 2014

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month.  It is also the time of year when we put our annual team background checks on the calendar.

Background checks are one of the most basic practices when it comes to keeping kids safe, and it’s a good idea to screen on a regular basis, not just when you first hire someone or bring them on as a volunteer.

In order to help youth-serving organizations with the cost, we’ve worked together with First Advantage to provide you with discounted pricing on comprehensive background checks.  Check out our National Child Protection Toolkit for links to all our resources, including information on pricing and background checks from First Advantage

But background checks are just a first step in the screening process.  Did you know you can improve your criminal background screening with online searches?  What about the interview process?

To learn more, watch the training video on “Background Screening.”  This video, along with the rest of the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation Child Protection Training Series can also be found in our National Child Protection Toolkit.  These short videos cover crucial background information as well as practical tips for keeping kids safe at your organization.

So to recap, here’s how to get started with the background screening tools on CRSFPortal.org:
