Cutting the Ribbon of our 57th Ripken Foundation STEM Center

Dec 09, 2019

This past Friday, December, 6th, 2019, we proudly cut the ribbon of another Ripken Foundation STEM Center at the Boys & Girls Club of Forsyth-Monroe, in Forsyth, GA, making this our 57th Ripken STEM Center to date!

Thanks to the Amazon Future Engineer program, we were able to provide kids of the Monroe County school district a place where they can learn hands-on, fun, after-school lessons in STEM—Science, Technology, Engineering, Math—without the added pressure of receiving grades. We proudly partnered with the Amazon Future Engineer program because of their commitment to increasing computer science education for children from at-risk backgrounds and desire to give every child the opportunity to succeed.

Our Ripken STEM Centers aim at making science learning fun for kids, while they also learn valuable skills such as basic coding and programming. This year, we’ve impacted over 23,000 kids with our Ripken Foundation STEM Centers, and already have plans to open 15 more Ripken Centers in the next year. With careers in STEM on the rise, we are excited to keep growing our STEM initiative to give more kids exposure to this growing field and the tools to realize their dreams.
