Mar 11, 2019

The Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation is partnering with the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation and the City of Fontana to bring a brand new Youth Development Park to Fontana, CA. Fontana Universally Accessible Field will be an Adaptive Field for children with disabilities, giving this special group of kids a safe surface they can play on year-round.

This custom-designed multipurpose youth sports fields will have a synthetic turf surface to help prevent injuries, give full access to individuals in wheelchairs or with impaired vision, and insure that everyone can play no matter the weather conditions. This Adaptive Field will give individuals with disabilities the opportunity to play baseball and lead active, healthy lives like their able-bodied friends while building important social and motor skills.

Ripken Foundation Youth Development Parks not only aid in the academic, athletic, and social successes of individuals with disabilities, but they also provide a vibrant community space for players and their families, and keep kids with disabilities healthy and safe with a place to play and learn after school and over the summer.
