In June, the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation kicked off the first of three events with the Under Armour Freedom Initiative. We partnered with Under Armour, the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Baltimore, and eight different Maryland law enforcement agencies to renovate the Boys & Girls Clubs Webster Kendrick Unit. Over 80 law enforcement mentors came out and renovated the new basketball gym that will be used by both the Boys & Girls Club and the attached Callaway Elementary School. The week concluded with a ribbon cutting, inaugural game of dodgeball in the gym, and a law enforcement presentation for the Boys & Girls Club kids.
Under Armour created the UA Freedom Initiative to support and inspire the dedicated men and women committed to protecting their communities, day in and day out. Through this initiative, the Ripken Foundation helped law enforcement officers from the Baltimore Police Department and first responders serve kids in their community.
We look forward to continuing this partnership in Austin, TX and Los Angeles, CA in the coming months. Watch the video below to see more of what the project is about and what we did for the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Baltimore.
