The Playbook for Healthy KidsPolice officer and youth

Helping at-risk youth realize their potential is not a one-and-done lesson. Our Healthy Choices, Healthy Children curriculum guides offer plenty of fresh ways to discuss how smart decisions today lead to bright, promising tomorrows.

Our series of flipbooks help mentors and coaches reinforce the core life skills in our signature Badges for Baseball program. Starting meaningful conversations about healthy choices is important, but keeping the discussion going is key. Research in character education shows that lessons are most effective when taught, reinforced, and taught again.

Created for maximum flexibility, each edition of Healthy Choices, Healthy Children can work with youth development programs other than Badges for Baseball—or as a standalone curriculum.

With enough content for leaders to run a yearlong program, these guides touch on a variety of vital topics, including:

  • Fitness
  • Nutrition
  • Financial literacy
  • Bullying
  • Civics and leadership
  • Resilience
  • Adaptive sports for children with disabilities
  • Quickball

Easy and Effective

Healthy Choices, Healthy Children lessons work best when delivered as part of a sport or activity. Mentors and coaches can use the compact life skills curriculum to help at-risk youth build character and stay on a path toward success. The program is also a catalyst for local youth development organizations to join forces and serve their communities together.

Our flipbooks reach thousands of kids every year and are available both online and in print. Access all accompanying materials—videos, music, worksheets, and more—by signing up for a free account on our Resource Portal.
