CRSF Camp 3: Day 1 on the field

Aug 20, 2013

The third week of camp is upon us!  It’s truly shaping up to be another incredible week.  Just right now, as I sit here in the press box and write about this awesome week, I watched a girl come up to bat who looks as she has never picked up a bat before.  After a few pitches, she knocked in out into the infield. She then managed to outrun everyone and score an inside the park homerun—incredible!

Sitting up in the press box has allowed me to view the first day a little differently.  I’ve been able to watch teams of strangers come together to become a group of teammates.  It’s been awesome to see. When someone makes a great play or he or she misses the ball in the field the kids are coming together as teammates to pick one another up.

I can’t wait to see what this group is going to accomplish on the ropes course and rock wall later today. This week is going to hold many different challenges for these kids and it’s going to be great to see how they handle themselves.  I will be sure to keep you posted as the week progresses.

Brooke. Out.

Stay tuned all week for updates for what we're doing and learning at camp!  We will also be tweeting updates and pictures, so if that’s more your speed, get live updates on Twitter by following the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation program team or #CRSFCamp.
