CRSFCamp - 2017 Week 2: And They're Off!

Aug 15, 2017

Day two of #CRSFCamp was our first day at Aberdeen working on baseball and softball skills (and a few life skills picked up along the way too)! Campers started with a delicious breakfast, then boarded the buses for the quick trip to Aberdeen. Once we arrived, everyone went through warm-up stations before moving onto skill clinics. After learning some new techniques, the teams ate lunch. Then everyone got to enjoy demonstrations from several different law enforcment agencies. Today we had Aberdeen Police Department, Prince George's County Police Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives bring a wide array of demos - from canine officers to a helicopter, it was a great display of the range of careers within law enforcement. Our time at aberdeen wraps-up with some friendly scrimmages where campers get to show off the skills they learned in the morning. Once the games finished, we loaded the buses and headed back to the campground. The afternoon saw campers swimming, zip-lining, and even shooting some hoops with the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation staffers! All that fun activity made for some hungry campers, so lasagna filled everyone right up! After dinner, we were treated to a special presentation from Van Brooks who talked to the camp group about overcoming adversity. We're resting up for another fun-filled day tomorrow! Check out some photos from today above. And don't forget - you can follow more of our activities on Twitter by checking out the #CRSFCamp hashtag, or by following our program team list on Twitter!
We cannot thank our sponsors enough for their support for our summer camp experience. Thank you again to Southwest Airlines, Under Armour, Rawlings, BSN Sports, and Walmart for making this week possible for these youth.
