Friday’s Final Thought: Thanksgiving comes early

Sep 23, 2016

Each year, around Thanksgiving, I usually e-mail everyone I’ve gotten to work with at the Foundation but don’t see every day to give thanks.  I find it a good time of year to be reflective, before all the haze of the holidays and running around trying to celebrate with everyone.

This year’s Thanksgiving is coming early, at least for me.  Today is my last day at the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation.  It’s been quite the ride since I first walked in as an AmeriCorps*VISTA in January 2007.  We had maybe 12 employees (actually that count might include me, too), the pilot year of Badges for Baseball had just been completed, and Blackberries were the must-have business tool.  Youth Development Parks weren’t even a twinkle in anybody’s eye.  CRSF has grown so much, through working together with people like you and our other amazing community partners and supporters, and I along with it and all of you.

I am so grateful for the opportunity to have learned so much, to have met and worked beside truly uncommon people, and to get to help kids and the people who serve as their life coaches.  I’ll miss the extended CRSF team, but I know we’ll all keep doing good out there in our various corners.  Thank you for being great teammates, and for all you do for our kids and our communities!
