Introducing new tools to help you keep kids safe

Sep 25, 2013

Our kids can't thrive if they don't feel safe.

A few months ago, we introduced access to affordable background checks through First Advantage (formerly LexisNexis) along with a video that included excerpts from our daylong seminar from expert, Sharon W. Cooper, MD, FAAP, on child sexual abuse and how to prevent it.

We know that you are committed to the kids you serve and to your communities, and that you will do anything you can to help them thrive.  We’ve been fortunate to see some of your dedication firsthand.

But we also know you needed more—more training, more practical guidance, more tools.

The Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation has developed a Child Protection tool kit that any youth-serving organization can use.  Here is what we are now offering via CRSFPortal.org:

1.       Model Child Protection Policy – a gold standard policy, easily adaptable for any organization serving youth and built around four critical areas: compliance, background screening, training, reporting

2.       Affordable & Effective National Criminal Background Checks from First Advantage

3.       Training Videos – the knowledge to make informed choices, paired with practical strategies

Through our Child Protection Training Series, you and your colleagues can learn about how sexual predators operate, creating an organizational child protection policy, background screening, training staff and volunteers, and proper response and reporting.  We have also made available the full video of our daylong seminar with the foremost child safety expert, Sharon W. Cooper, MD, FAAP.

Knowledge is power, and the more you know, the better you’ll be able to use the tools available to you at CRSFPortal.org/Child-Protection.

All of these resources are available to you by joining CRSFPortal.org, if you haven’t already created your free account.

Please share these tools with anyone who works with kids.  If there are other types of content that would be helpful to you, please let us know in the comments section below!
