100th Youth Development Park at Reedbird Park in Baltimore City!

Sep 21, 2020

Together with our partners at Baltimore Recreations and Parks and the South Baltimore Gateway Partnership, we are building our 100th Youth Development Park field at Reedbird Park in Baltimore City.

This 83,500 square foot synthetic turf and youth baseball field will give kids a much needed clean and safe place to play and learn year-round. The new field will provide a healthy place for Baltimore City youth to go during the prime afterschool hours when they are most likely to get into trouble or be involved in juvenile crime. The goal is to provide baseball, softball, football, soccer, and lacrosse programming on the field coordinated by our partners at BCRP and SBGP. Reedbird Park is part of a larger project by the BCRP in Cherry Hill to create a community hub for health services and recreation, transforming underutilized open space in the community at the Middle Branch Fitness and Wellness Center.

Construction has begun on a fitness center and adjacent turf playing field in South Baltimore’s Cherry Hill neighborhood. The “Super Rec Center” will be a place for the community to exercise and enjoy the outdoors. The adjacent turf field will be the Ripken Foundation’s 100th Youth Development Park! After school sport programs will be held on this field once completed in 2021. Check out this article to learn more about the Reedbird Park Project.
