The Ripken Foundation partnered with the Governor's Office of Crime Control & Prevention to host its first ever Badges for Fishing event at the National Harbor. Fifteen youth from our partner organization, the Prince George's County Police Athletic League, got to learn about the ecosystem and the basics of fishing. A few kids were even able to catch a fish. Youth were also treated to a boat ride in the harbor, courtesy of the Prince George's County Marine Unit.
In hundreds of communities across America, vulnerable youth and law enforcement are joining forces to play and learn—building positive connections in the process. By hosting this event, we were able to provide youth in Prince George's County the opportunity to interact positively with officers while having fun.
