Community Clean-Up: Today's Leadership Play of the Day

Jun 05, 2020

Have you ever seen trash or litter in your community's grassy areas, street, or sidewalk? Today’s Leadership Play of the day from the Ripken Playbook will teach you how to lead a community trash clean-up to beautify your community.

Materials

Community Clean-Up

  1. Brainstorm a list of places in your neighborhood that are in need of a trash clean-up effort, and then narrow this list down to one place which is most in need of beautification.
  2. Next, on your bubble map, write your cleanup location in the center bubble. In the outer bubbles, fill in the tools you will need to make your clean-up happen: gloves, trash bags, masks, etc.
  3. Select a day to begin your clean-up project. Before you begin, make sure you are wearing gloves, and if you are with friends, be sure to practice the appropriate social distancing guidelines.
  4. After you have completed your trash clean-up, brainstorm a larger project you could complete in your community. Go above and beyond and write a letter to your local mayor or governor about your project idea.
