In 2019 the Ripken Foundation opened a synthetic turf baseball and soccer field in Toledo, Ohio on the upper end of the Danny Thomas Park. The second phase should be complete by the end of June, which adds a new basketball court, picnic area, and outdoor instruments for the community! The Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation developed the Youth Development Park Initiative to create clean, safe spaces for kids to play all across the country. These synthetic turf facilities provide outdoor, recreational places for youth to learn, play, and, ultimately grow into healthy, successful adults.
